First Baptist owns one of the largest lodges at the Eagle Eyrie Baptist Conference Center located just west of Lynchburg, Virginia, on Route 501N. Click here to visit the Eagle Eyrie Web site and learn about how this conference center is used by Virginia Baptists. Of course, groups at our Church have first priority for use of the lodge. Contact Vickie Adkins for details. Our lodge, which sleeps 30 people, had significant renovations in late 2007 and early 2008. Skilled craftsmen were used where necessary, but lots of the work was done by more than 40 volunteers from our Church. The projects done to date include the following:

♦ New gutters, downspouts, and flashing;
♦ Replacement windows and exterior doors;
♦ New roofs and decks over porches;
♦ Enclosed screened porch;
♦ Insulation for entire lodge including crawl spaces;
♦ Bathrooms completely redone;
♦ New bathroom/kitchen floor coverings;
♦ Refinishing of pine flooring upstairs;
♦ New kitchen cabinets,sink, and counter tops;
♦ New kitchen appliances;
♦ Washed wormy chestnut paneling;

♦ Refinished knotty pine walls upstairs;
♦ Repaired and refinished interior doors as needed;
♦ Patched and painted all walls, inside and out;
♦ Refurnished lounge, bedrooms, and eating area;
♦ Cleaned out cluttered storage rooms;
♦ Added bedroom and full bath on first floor;
♦ Added electrical outlets as needed.
