Children & Salvation

New Believer's Class      New Believer's Class next session

The greatest joy you have as parents and we have as teachers and ministers is to see a child respond to Jesus. Children.....

A- Admit they are a sinner (disobey God) and that they must turn from their sin. "Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out" (Acts 3:19). Also see Isaiah 59:2 & Romans 6:23.

B- Believe that Jesus died for them and that He is alive today. They must believe that Jesus is the only way for someone to get to heaven. The Bible says, "Yet to all who received him (Jesus), to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God." (John 1:12) and see John 3:16 and 1 Corinthians 15:3 - 4.

C- Confess Jesus as Lord of their life. By inviting Jesus into their life, they are promising to obey him in all areas of their life.

Those are the ABCs of accepting Christ as Lord and Savior!

At FBC we offer a class for children who have acknowledged the urging of the Holy Spirit to have Jesus as their Savior. "The New Believers Class" uses the I'm a Christian, Now! curriculum by Lifeway Resources.

Topics covered are as follows:

  • Sin, repentance, salvation
  • How to write your testimony
  • Church
  • Baptism
  • The Lord's Supper or Communion
  • Offering (tithing)
  • How to study your Bible
  • Witnessing
  • Missions
  • Making a memory box

Children attend the "New Believer's Class" for four consecutive weeks during the 9:30 a.m. Sunday School hour.  Top of Page

The next sessions (grades 1 - 6) are scheduled for June 6 -27 in Room 152. If you would like your child to take part in a class or if you have questions, please contact Nancy Ryalls, nancyr@cvillefbc.org

When children begin to ask questions, give them simple, literal answers using concrete language. Say, "Do you want to be a Christian?" Not, "Do you want Jesus in your heart". Say, "Jesus is the Son of God,"not "Jesus is the lamb of God." Etc.
