First Baptist has a prayer ministry that includes a prayer room at the Church, a dedicated voice mailbox for phoned-in prayer requests, and a prayer request form on this Web site. This prayer ministry is regularly publicized to the Church family and to the community at large. All prayer requests submitted by any means are cataloged by an assigned staff member and are prepared for use in the prayer room.
Prayer Room
The prayer room is located on the floor above the Church office in Room 322. The prayer room is open from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. There is an ongoing sign-up effort so that someone is in the room all during the day, praying for the needs that have been submitted to the Church. Volunteers sign up for 30-minute slots. The list of prayer needs is kept up to date and is available to the volunteers in the prayer room.
Prayer Request Voice Mailbox
Callers to the regular Church phone number (434.296.6195) are given the option to connect to the prayer request voice mailbox.
Web Site Prayer Request Form
A prayer request can also be submitted to the Church through the use of a form that is accessible by clicking HERE.

Each Tuesday morning at 6:15 a.m., a group of men gather at the Church for a time of prayer for each other, our Church family, our community, and for other issues as well. Each Wednesday evening there are opportunities for prayer as part of the C.A.R.E. Revealed Ministry of FBC. Prayer is a vital part of our worship times, and during each service, a deacon prays in a Pastor's study for the service and for the requests submitted by attendees of that service. Families are encouraged to pray together as family units, and individuals are encouraged to have their daily quiet times of communing with God.
The ministerial and support staff members begin their weekly staff meetings by reviewing and praying for prayer requests made by the Church family. Once a month the men of the Church participate in a Men's Prayer Breakfast. The World Missions Unlimited (women) group maintains a constant prayer ministry and leads the Church in four week-long prayer emphases each year. And there are other small groups of members that meet together regularly for a time of prayer.
First Baptist is a praying Church.
